I was able to create this pencil holder by scaling a cylnder, adding loop cuts and then extruding the bottom and top loops
I made this apple by using a UV sphere which then I went into modifiers and used a decimate modifier. Then edit mode, selecting the top point and bottom point of the sphere and scaling it inwards to give it the ideal apple look. Then I added the cylnder mesh moved it on the Z line and scaled it to make a stem.
